Let’s be honest—healing isn’t always beautiful. Sometimes it looks like crying in your car. Sometimes it looks like leaving everything behind and starting over. Sometimes it looks like going back to bed because that’s all you can do that day. And that’s okay.
We live in a world that talks a lot about “thriving,” but rarely tells the truth about what it takes to get there. At the Surreal Life Podcast, we’re not here for surface-level inspiration. We’re here for the messy, real-life growth that happens in between the chaos and the comeback.
Survival Mode: Where Most of Us Start
For a long time, survival was the only option. Whether it was trauma, addiction, toxic relationships, or just trying to keep your head above water—you did what you had to do to make it through. You weren’t broken. You were surviving.
At some point, many of us feel something shift. We realize we want more. More peace. More alignment. More truth. We don’t just want to “make it.” We want to actually live. That’s where the work begins.
What Thriving Actually Looks Like
Thriving isn’t a constant high. It’s not about being happy all the time or pretending you’ve got it all figured out. Here’s what real thriving might look like:
Setting boundaries without apologizing
Choosing peace over chaos
Leaving the relationship that’s draining you
Going to therapy or asking for help
Saying no to things that don’t align
Creating a life that feels good on the inside—even if it doesn’t look “successful” from the outside
Thriving is when you stop living in reaction to your pain and start creating from a place of power. It’s subtle. It’s slow. And it’s sacred.
Why We Share the Messy Middle
One of the biggest lies about healing is that you’ll know when you’ve “arrived.” Truth is, we’re all still figuring it out. The reason we started the Surreal Life Podcast was to hold space for these in-between moments—the ones most people are afraid to talk about. Because when we normalize the process, we help others feel less alone in their process.

Final Thoughts
Healing doesn’t happen in one big moment. It happens in a thousand small ones—quiet choices to show up, keep going, and believe you’re worthy of more. From surviving to thriving is a journey. And wherever you are on that path, we see you.
